Valuable Legacy Of European Paintings

Italy and Spain are the two European countries with more painters and valuable Paintings in the globe. Bernard van Orley (Brussels 1487 - January 1541) was an important Flemish Northern Renaissance painter and draughtsman. Most Bernard van Orley’s works had religious subjects and some of them were portraits.

According to the history, Italian painters influenced Orley’s work. Bernard van Orley completed his art education in Rome, specifically in Raphael’s school. After that, he returned to Brussels for working in the court of Margaret of Austria until 1527. He had an evident influenced of famous painters like Jan van Eyck, Raphael, Pieter van Aelst and Michael Coxcie. If you like Orley Paintings, you will appreciate real artworks.

Among Bernard van Orley’s best artworks we can mention the following: Joris van Zelle (1519), The Battle of Pavia tapestry, Mary with child and John the Baptist (The Prado, Madrid), Portrait of Margaret of Austria, Portrait of Charles V, Hunts of Maximilian tapestries and Virgin and Child with Angels (1515).

National museums such as the National Gallery of Art in Washington, the British Museum, Louvre Museum, des Beaux Arts Museum in Brussels, the Antwerp Museum, the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, the Prado Museum in Madrid and Metropolitan Museum of Art in Mew York contains a big part of Orley’s art collection.
