There are so many self-imposed limitations that I see companies place on themselves. This almost always comes from a fear of trying something they aren’t as well versed in, or clinging as much as possible to the existing styles of advertising that they already know and have been using for a long time. The best marketing shouldn’t have any kind of limitations. Given the wide selection of marketing material and the possibilities out there I don’t understand why anyone would willingly choose not to take advantage of them. The main reason why I say this is because each situation is going to require a different type of marketing to make it work effectively. Take the idea of a company trying to introduce themselves to people for the first time. What they’ll need is a marketing push that works well for first time customers. For something like this you’ll likely want to take a look at custom greeting cards. Since so few companies use greeting cards at all, if you can generate a strong marketing push from them, you’ll be able to garner quite a bit of attention and increase your sales in the process. Now, why is it that many companies don’t bother with custom greeting cards? They don’t use them for the very reason I mentioned at the beginning. They aren’t used to them so they don’t bother with something they aren’t as comfortable with. The first time you try anything in life you aren’t going to know as much about it and so you aren’t going to be as effective at using it. But if you keep practicing and refining your knowledge than you’ll reach a point when you know exactly what you’re doing and can make the most of whatever type of marketing you want to. This is the point that every company needs to reach. Don’t just stick with postcards because these are what you have the most experience with. Give brochures a try or try to find the best way to make posters or even flyers work well for you. Each one will be best for a different situation. You have to know what those situations are or else you might end up using an advertisement that won’t get you the kind of results you were hoping for. For those just starting out I know it can be a little nerve wracking the first time you start using a form of marketing you’ve never touched before. You just need to remember that it isn’t always going to be that way. If you give it enough time and focus on learning every form of marketing you come across, you’ll reach the point when you have no limitations, and can market yourself in any way you want.
